چکیده

There has been analyzed hemoblastosis and leukemia morbidity in Siberian Group of Chemical Enterprises (SGCE) employees occupationally exposed to long-term low-level ionizing radiation. It has been found that hemoblastosis and leukemia morbidity in SGCE males is significantly higher as compared to the national and regional standards. The incidence rate in males is observed at the expense of non-radiation support production workers. No increase in leukemia morbidity risk depending on cumulative external radiation dose in the range up to 1 Sv has been found.

Sperm quality and DNA damage in men from Jilin Province, China, who are occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation.

Long-term radiation exposure affects human health. Ionizing radiation has long been known to raise the risk of cancer. In addition to high doses of radiation, low-dose ionizing radiation might increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, lens opacity, and some other non-cancerous diseases. Low- and high-dose exposures to ionizing radiation elicit different signaling events at the molecular leve...

A Novel Biological Dosimetry Method for Monitoring Occupational Radiation Exposure in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Wards: From Radiation Dosimetry to Biological Effects

Background and Objective: Professional radiation workers are occupationally exposed to long-term low levels of ionizing radiation. Occupational health hazards from radiation exposure, in a large occupational segment of the population, are of special concern. Biological dosimetry can be performed in addition to physical dosimetry with the aim of individual dose assessment and biological effects....

Variation of annual effective dose from external ionizing radiation among radiation workers of Bahawalpur Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (BINO), Pakistan

Background: The aim of the study was to analyze the effective dose record of occupationally exposed radiation workers at Bahawalpur Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology department. Materials and Methods: Annual effective doses of occupationally exposed workers were measured by film badge dosimetry by sending the dosimeters to Radiation Dosimetry Laboratory (RDL), Pakistan Institute of Nuc...

Assessment of Adaptive Response of Gamma Radiation in the Operating Room Personnel Exposed to Anesthetic Gases by Measuring the Relative Gene Expression Changes Ku80, Ligase1 and P53

Background: Some operating room personnel are occupationally exposed to genotoxic agents such as anesthetic gases and ionizing radiation. Adaptive response, as a defense mechanism, will occur when cells become exposed to a low dose of factors harming DNA (priming dose), which in the subsequent exposure to higher dose of those factors (challenging dose), show more resistance and sensibility.. <b...

Cytogenetic evaluation of cataract patients occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation in northeast China.

Long-term radiation exposure is hazardous to health; late-onset effects of exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) pose risks to the lens, and are associated with other non-cancerous diseases. Individuals occupationally exposed to low-dose IR are prone to developing eye cataracts. Cytogenetic evaluations suggest that IR is associated with chromosomal aberrations in occupationally exposed individual...
